ROTHESAY HIVE: Frequently Asked Questions

The ROTHESAY HIVE is a gathering place to nurture the health and well-being of older adults (50+) through a hub of activities that focus on socialization, connection, health and wellness, intergenerational programming, lifelong learning and outreach.

The Town of Rothesay and the YMCA of Greater Saint John have formed a partnership for the Y to operate the ROTHESAY HIVE.  In addition to housing the ROTHESAY HIVE, the Town of Rothesay has formed and appointed the ROTHESAY HIVE Advisory Committee, a group of volunteers to provide oversight on their behalf.

The ROTHESAY HIVE Advisory Committee is a group of volunteers representing the community appointed by the Town to provide oversight for the ROTHESAY HIVE Age Friendly Community Centre. The Committee meets regularly and provides updates to Town Council.

Thanks to some grants and sponsorships secured by the Town in 2018, the Town was able to offset some of the initial start-up costs to convert and furnish the space into the new ROTHESAY HIVE Age Friendly Community Centre.

The YMCA of Greater Saint John is a not-for-profit, registered charity that has been in existence for over 165 years.  The Y uses a membership based approach coupled with philanthropic efforts to deliver programs and services.

The established fees for the ROTHESAY HIVE help cover the annual operating costs involved in offering the ROTHESAY HIVE programs and services including things such as a full-time coordinator and program supplies

The YMCA has an assistance program available to individuals who would like to participate in proven Y programs but feel they need financial support with membership and program fees.  Ask our coordinator for a Strong Communities Opportunity Fund application form.
